Exodus 19:17-20. “And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke because the Lord descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by noice. Then the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.”
Isaiah 2:2 “Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills. And all the nations shall flow to it.”
I love the mountains! We take a trip to Colorado every year to see the mountains. I have also seen the mountains of Israel. Mount Sinai is beautiful! When I am in the mountains I think about Exodus 17 and how it might have felt if I had been there with the people of Israel and watched Moses go up into the mountain. Read the rest of Exodus 19 and also read Exodus 20. The people were afraid of the Lord….but Moses knew these people needed a healthy fear that kept them in awe of Him. Oh, Lord, help us to fear You rightly. You are the most amazing God!
Lord, Your mountains are so majestic. We are amazed with all of Your creation. Oh, we love to imagine in these last days Your house established at the top of the mountains. Oh, how Your house will be exalted! And, we love to imagine and think about how all the nations shall to to the mountain of the Lord and see Your house!
